Grass Lake stats

The Varsity Volleyball team hosted East Jackson for their final home match of the season for Senior Night. Senior Night is a special night for the girls as they get to pick the position they play for the first set. Defensive Specialists and our Libero were hitters or setters, we had a new Libero, and our setter was a hitter. The five seniors, Hanna Alvarez, Nadene Hubbard, Mia Buttigieg, Brayley Cook, and Emily Brown were able to take the first set quickly winning 25-9. They used some help from Ashleigh Simon and Reese Lape to make up their seven players. They continued their momentum with same “senior fun” lineup and took sets two and three closing out the night (25-6, 25-14). Alvarez led in the front row with seven kills and also had 13 digs. Hubbard and Lape followed with six kills. Simon followed with five. Hubbard had 19 assists while Brown had 11. Buttigieg snagged 12 digs. Cook and Hubbard had seven digs each.  Simon led at the service line serving 24-for-26 with 24 points and 7 aces. Hubbard followed serving 19-for-19 with 16 points. Amazing night for those seniors to play different positions for three sets. They travel to Lenawee Christian Thursday for a Tri with the host and Clinton.

Jonesville stats

The comets traveled to Michigan Center for our final regular season conference match. The team started out a little slow, hesitant and without the aggressive edge that we had played with over the weekend. The comets lost set 1 and 2 with scores of 25-27 and 21-25 before picking up the intensity and finally started to get in the rhythm with a spark from Junior Jaclyn Henry. The comets won the last 3 sets with scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 15-8. Morgan Wood led the way  with 14 kills, 3 blocks and an astounding performance at the service line with 9 aces and 27 total service points.
Senior Natalynn Beach had a very solid offensive night with 13 kills and 2 blocks. Junior Jaclyn Henry stepped up and added 8 kills as well as earning some aggressive points from the service line. With senior libero Haley Mach out with an injury, freshman Olivia Tyler stepped up and 34 digs followed by senior Korra Estel with 24, Carley Graves with 17 and Jayda Rathbun with 13.  Carley Graves added 30 assists followed by Jayda Rathbun with 12. The comets will travel back to Michigan Center on Saturday for the Cascades Conference tournament.
