The Columbia Central Golden Eagles hosted the Grass Lake Warriors last night in a hard-fought matchup that saw the visitors pull away late for a 40-23 victory.
Both teams battled defensively through the first three quarters, with Columbia Central trailing Grass Lake by just seven points heading into the final period, 24-17. The Golden Eagles’ defense kept the game close early, but the Warriors found their rhythm in the fourth quarter, outscoring Columbia Central 16-6 to secure the win.
Columbia Central was led by Derek Sanders, who tallied 7 points, and Nolan Schiel, who added 6. Despite their efforts, the Golden Eagles struggled offensively in the final stretch, unable to overcome Grass Lake’s balanced attack.
The Warriors were led by Bryant Cook, who finished with 13 points, and Jacob Collins, who contributed 8.
With the loss, Columbia Central looks to regroup as they prepare for their next game on Friday night, hosting the Homer Trojans. The Golden Eagles will aim to bounce back and put on a strong performance in front of their home crowd.
