The Golden Eagle cross country team competed at the Clinton Redwolves Invite on Saturday. A rainstorm passing through made the already hilly, tough course even harder but it didn’t hold the Columbia runners back.
The boys team had a very strong showing with seven of eight finishers coming home with medals. Athletes finishing in the top twenty were Wyatt Vowell (third place), Jack Gorton (fourth place), Owen Lambarth (fifth place), Nate Ostrosky (sixth place), Tyson Gaydosh (twelfth place), Joel David (nineteenth place) and Nick Neuman (twentieth place). The Columbia boys’ performance was enough to take home first place, winning the invitational.
In the girls’ race, Melyssa Mcjennett was the lone runner finishing fifth overall earning herself a medal showing tenacity in the race.
The Columbia Central cross country team competes next at the Cascades West Jamboree at Jonesville High School on Tuesday.
